SERIES TOPICS OF FLY ASH CONCRETE
2nd Topic: Newly Proposed Rational Mix Design
In 2007, JSCE concrete board committee established a sub-committee on design and practice for fly ash concrete to further promote the effective use of fly ash in accordance with the performance-based design. The subcommittee will report the activity of six working groups at regular intervals in a newsletter in 2009.
RESEARCH COMMITTEE
Subcommittee on Structural Performance of Deteriorated Concrete Structure (Subcommittee 331)
JSCE-331 was organized in May 2004, with about fifty young researchers and engineers in Japan from both academic and industrial fields. The mission of JSCE-331 is to widely study structural performance of deteriorated concrete structures, namely due to reinforcement corrosion, by experimental and numerical approach.

JSCE Concrete Library 130: Recommendations for Design and Construction of Concrete Structures Using Stainless Steel Bars (draft).
Stainless steel forms a passive film of chromium oxide that is highly resistant to corrosion, so the use of stainless steel bars in concrete can enhance the durability of a structure in a highly corrosive environment. The (draft) recommendations specify requirements from the aspects of design and construction that need special consideration when using stainless steel bars in structures affected by chloride ions.
The recommendation is now downloadable for free.
