| 道路等で分断された森林に棲む樹上動物の種を保護するためのアニマルパスウェイを開発し、国内・世界へ普及を図ろうとするプロジェクトである。2002年に開発した「ヤマネブリッジ」は高額であり、市町村の道路上に設置するために、この廉価版アニマルパスウェイを約3年の実証実験の末に開発した。本アニマルパスウェイにより樹上動物のロードキルを防ぐとともに繁殖を促し、分断された森林における生物多様性を維持することが出来る。その成果を反映して2007年7月に北杜市公道上にアニマルパスウェイが設置された。24時間の映像モニタリングの結果、頻繁なヤマネやヒメネズミなどの利用が確認され、新聞、テレビ、雑誌を通じての普及活動が行われ、新たな設置要請もある。本プロジェクトは産官NGOの協働の好事例として内外の評価も高い。 | Low-price animal-pathways for arboreal animals whose habitats were divided by roads have been developed based on a long-term field research. The low-price animal-pathways have been constructed over the public roads in Hokuto City. Since then it has been observed that dormice, small Japanese field mice and other arboreal animals often use them. Due to this success, the construction of the animal-pathways has been introduced and promoted through mass media. |
